Concert Band

The concert band is the band that people typically think of when they think "band." It is much more formal than marching band or pep band, with each school generally having a uniform or dress code with formal attire. There are many different types of instruments seen in concert band that aren't in the other two, either for stylistic reasons, instrument fragility (concert instruments are taken much better care of, and are almost never exposed to poor weather), or balancing issues.

Here is a large (but not comprehensive) list of the instruments in a concert band, in the order they appear on a score (a sheet of music containing all of the individual parts used by a conductor):
