Marching band is a popular type of band that many people are familiar with, but don't know much about. They frequently perform at football games for their half time shows, but many schools also opt to compete in competitions. Many people believe that in marching band the performs simply walk, but there is actually a very specific technique to marching, involving keeping ones feet in time with the music and rolling through their foot, with different parts of the foot carrying the weight of the person on different parts of the count. Marching band also has a few unique instruments, with other instruments having marching band specific variations, such as french horn players playing on a mellophone instead.
