Band is a class a student can take in school typically offered from middle school onwards. While middle schools generally have just a concert band, with some of them having orchestras, high schools typically have much more variety. There are three main types of bands present in high school: the concert band, the marching band, and the pep band. Many schools also have orchestras and jazz bands, but they will not be covered here. There are many different types of instruments in band, and each type of band has instruments that are unique to them (though bands such as marching band and pep band have quite a lot of overlap).
